Fifty cent 1986 - Not intended for circulation

The 1986 Royal Australian Mint proof coins set was presented in a clear acrylic case with blue folder used for protection.

Most years since 1966, the Royal Australian Mint has released a proof set containing proof examples of Australia's circulating coinage. Proof coins have a different and more refined manufacturing process than circulation coins. The dies are polished to give a cameo-like/mirror-like or matte finish.

In 1986, the 1 dollar coin original design was replaced with the International Year of Peace one for circulating and proof coins.

The uncirculated 1986 20 cents coin only comes from the International Year of Peace Royal Australian Mint set.
