Fifty cent 1992 - Not intended for circulation

The 1992 Royal Australian Mint proof coins set was presented in a see-both-sides hard plastic case and presented in a special leatherette protective wallet and a colourful presentation box. Despite the reduction in the number of coins in the set from eight to six, the presentation case remains the same size as the one introduced in 1985.

Most years since 1966, the Royal Australian Mint has released a proof set containing proof examples of Australia's circulating coinage. Proof coins have a different and more refined manufacturing process than circulation coins. The dies are polished to give a cameo-like/mirror-like or matte finish.

In 1992, the 1 dollar coin original design was replaced with a Barcelona Olympic Games.
