Fifty cent 1993 - Not intended for circulation
The 1993 Royal Australian Mint proof coins set was presented in a see-both-sides hard plastic case and presented in a special leatherette protective wallet and a colourful presentation box.
Most years since 1966, the Royal Australian Mint has released a proof set containing proof examples of Australia's circulating coinage. Proof coins have a different and more refined manufacturing process than circulation coins. The dies are polished to give a cameo-like/mirror-like or matte finish.
In 1993, the 1 dollar coin original design was replaced with the Landcare design also used on the 1993 circulating dollar.
